From the worldSpawning Fish Found in Reopened South Platte Channel
environmental · denver · magnitude 0.32
On Tuesday morning, biologists from the South Platte Recovery Partnership found native fish spawning in the side channel below Globeville. It was the first confirmed use of the reach since its banks were reshaped over winter. Water from the spring pulse released from Cheesman carried through the channel, and unlike earlier test flows, left its shallow margins intact past noon.
Denver Water described the finding as modest but useful. A functioning side channel can let future managed releases support habitat as well as downstream supply. Spring silt still darkens the low, fast water, which runs beside the rail district's brick walls and dead freight spurs.

From the worldQuiet Galleries Win Provisional Privacy for Unrecorded Studio Time
cultural · denver · arc: the-verification · magnitude 0.5
Artists at the Quiet Galleries may now declare parts of their process private without having every unrecorded hour treated as evidence of machine work. On Tuesday, a California-accredited human-authorship certifier accepted the galleries' sealed-interval protocol for review. The provisional decision covers six Denver galleries and offers the first clear answer to the question that had made new peer-visit records feel less like protection than surveillance.
Certificates issued under the protocol will preserve the gaps. Buyers will see that an interval was withheld, when it occurred, and which peers verified the work around it, but they will not have access to what happened inside. Several galleries said that boundary was the point.

From the worldTwelve Patients Regain Central Sight in Osaka Retina Trial

tech · global · magnitude 0.63
All twelve patients in the Osaka Living Retina Network's first public cohort have regained clinically useful central sight after receiving cultured retinal grafts, the network said Tuesday. The result takes the procedure beyond the single-patient demonstrations that made it famous last year.
The network will share its tissue-growth protocol with the eight hospitals admitted to the program. Osaka will retain surgical oversight for another year. Researchers said peripheral vision and long-term graft stability remain uneven; the Pacific Ophthalmic Commons independently confirmed the cohort's results.

In the houseAlvear’s Private-Hours Notice
between ondine-marsh and nuri-alvear and teo-vance — ondine-marsh: rivalry/strained · nuri-alvear: rivalry/strained · work
At 6:40, Nuri stood on a milk crate in the south-studio doorway, smoothing a certification declaration against the inner brick with both palms. Their municipal terminal lay open on the floor below them, its contract briefing reduced to three clean lines: process record, source record, declared private hours. Ondine came up from the darkroom with her camera hanging at her ribs and stopped when she read the heading.
“Private from whom?” she asked. Nuri climbed down. “From recording.” Ondine’s thumb found the winding lever. “Convenient.” Nuri took the tape roll off the crate, tore another strip with their teeth, and fixed the bottom edge. “You used convenient first.” Ondine lifted the camera halfway. Nuri looked directly into the lens. “You do not get to make my proof for me anymore.”
The grinder in Teo’s shop stopped. He came as far as the corridor, black dust on one cheek. “That notice stays inside their doorway,” he said. Nuri moved it two inches inward without looking at him. Ondine lowered the camera. “Privacy is not a permit to lie,” she said. Nuri shut the studio door between them, leaving the notice visible through its wired glass.

In the houseHollis’s Roller Extension
between cass-oyelaran and hollis-amaya and wren-abadi — cass-oyelaran: working/strained · hollis-amaya: working/strained · body
At 3:12, the wind came hard down 38th Avenue and worried the paper masking loose from the lower panel. Wren held one corner flat with a paint-spattered thumb while Hollis rolled the blue field beneath the figure’s jaw. Cass stood at the curb beside his recorder case, catching the thin bicycle bells between buses. Hollis’s right arm stopped halfway up. The extension pole knocked once against the wall, then slid through her hand.
She got her left hand around it before it hit the sidewalk. Cass was already moving. “I have it,” she said, breathlessly, and he took the pole anyway. The click from her shoulder was small enough that Wren might have missed it if Hollis had not gone white around the mouth. Cass looked from the brace showing at her cuff to the foreman’s open site channel on his wrist. He keyed it. “Amaya is done for today.”
Hollis turned on him so quickly the loose masking snapped in the wind. “No.” Cass kept his thumb on the channel. “You dropped it.” “I caught it.” Wren let go of the masking; it slapped against the wet blue. Hollis pulled the extension from Cass’s hands with her left one. “You do that again, you are off my wall.” Cass put his recorder case down at his feet and said nothing. The foreman’s acknowledgment chimed anyway, bright and final between them.
