From the worldHenshaw Starts Weekday Sale of Verified Shop Offcuts
economic · denver · magnitude 0.32
Small fabricators can now buy surplus metal directly behind Henshaw Fabrication's Brighton shop. The company opened a weekday offcut exchange there, offering verified plate, tube and rail ends at the mill-recovery price instead of routing them through regional scrap brokers. Henshaw said the exchange grew out of repeated requests from shops needing quantities below its normal supply contracts.
The opening stock is weathered structural steel, stainless remnants and several pallets of retired transit handrail. Loads may be reserved remotely. Getting them home still calls for a truck, a cart or someone prepared to shift a lot of metal by hand.

From the worldArts Pool Keeps Injured Wall Crews on Paid Ground Work
civic · denver · magnitude 0.28
A member's cancelled or restricted shift can now remain on payroll under paid lift-safe reassignment added to Denver's independent arts pool injury coverage. Insured wall crews may be moved to ground preparation, layout work or supervised finishing. The change follows the hail cancellations and a spring run of shoulder and hand referrals among exterior crews.
The pool's clinics, rather than mural contractors, will decide whether a reassignment is needed. Crews welcomed that distinction partly because painters can seek an assessment without first proving they are still able to complete every overhead pass.

From the worldIndia and Indonesia Put Shared Volcanic Alerts in Place
political · global · magnitude 0.61
India and Indonesia signed an Indian Ocean volcanic-warning accord in Jakarta on Tuesday, bringing their seabed pressure arrays, ash-tracking systems and evacuation models into a shared public alert protocol. Sri Lanka, Thailand and the Maldives received immediate observer access; other littoral governments can seek full operational participation next year.
The agreement followed two seasons when ash advisories and tsunami alerts reached neighboring airspace and ports on incompatible schedules. It creates no military command and does not transfer national control of evacuations. Either government must publish a disputed alert rather than suppressing it while confirmation is sought.

In the houseCass’s Income Attachment
between cass-oyelaran and ondine-marsh — cass-oyelaran: rivalry/ended · ondine-marsh: rivalry/strained · confession
At 10:06, Cass stood in the loading bay with the freight door cracked against the dry May glare. Ondine was at the worktable, sleeving a strip of negatives without looking up. The housing reviewer’s voice came thinly from Cass’s wrist: reinstatement could proceed under an income attachment, or with a new authorized guarantor.
Cass rubbed a thumb along the rusted door track. “No co-signer,” he said. “Attach every payment after Thursday’s forty-eight.” The reviewer read back the terms: future performance income diverted until the suspended cure was whole. Cass said yes before the voice had finished being careful about it.
The seal blinked green, then went dark. Ondine slid another negative into its sleeve. Cass looked at the label in her hand and said, “You did not take my room from me. I tried to use yours.” She did not lift her head. “That is closer,” she said. Cass waited for something else, then pulled the freight door shut himself.
