From the worldHuman Review Measure Recast for Decisions Before Harm Is Done
political · denver · arc: the-ballot · magnitude 0.58
The sponsors of Denver’s Right to a Human measure said Sunday they would replace the proposal’s rejected emergency-appeal lane with a broader promise of meaningful human review. Under the new version, consequential civic decisions would be reviewable before harm becomes fixed, rather than only after someone disputes an automated determination.
That change could bring the coalition back into alignment with access advocates, but it also opens a more difficult argument about staffing, delay and the difference between an actual human decision and a ceremonial signature. Sponsors expect to present draft language before the next Assembly sitting.

From the worldHenshaw Makes Its Fit Cell Available After Hours for Working Bodies
tech · denver · magnitude 0.31
At Henshaw Works, independent tradespeople and artists can now use the autonomous fit cell after hours under supervision. The program scans, cuts and adjusts salvaged stock into custom tool supports, grip sleeves and load-balancing braces. Henshaw said small shops requested it because clinical fabrication prices and daytime factory access were out of reach.
For now, bookings are restricted to work-linked injuries and repetitive-load needs. The district makers’ pool subsidizes materials, but not the time spent designing each support.

From the worldAutonomous Crawlers Reconnect Mombasa–Male Cable Route
tech · global · magnitude 0.67
Two trunk lines on the Mombasa–Male deepwater route were severed by a seabed slide last month. The Indian Ocean Cable Cooperative said Sunday that its autonomous repair fleet has restored the route, with no crewed vessel sent out. Paired crawlers found the buried break, moved unstable sediment and brought a new fiber segment across the damaged shelf.
East African and central Indian Ocean traffic has its full redundancy again, weeks before the cooperative’s original estimate. Maritime unions welcomed the avoided dive risk but said the result would intensify their long-running dispute over how much offshore maintenance should remain crewed.

In the houseOndine’s Window Packing Authorization
between wren-abadi and ondine-marsh and hollis-amaya — wren-abadi: friendship/ended · ondine-marsh: friendship/strained · betrayal
At 6:18, Wren found the packing authorization glowing over the darkroom sink, beside a strip of wet negatives. Her left hand held the page flat while the splinted right one hovered above it. The title sat under Ondine’s name: I Am Also in the Window. Quiet Gallery, Thursday opening.
Hollis came in with a tube of mural sketches under her good arm and stopped when she saw the screen. “You put that up?” she asked. Ondine was rinsing a tray, not looking at either of them. “I sent it last night,” she said. “It opens Thursday.”
Wren folded the authorization badly against her palm. “Then you are not my friend anymore.” Hollis set her tube down hard enough to rattle the enlarger. Ondine finally looked at Wren, then reached past the screen and closed the authorization without withdrawing it. Hollis said, “You don’t get to call it a record when you hide the knife,” and walked out with the darkroom door swinging behind her.
