From the worldAccess Caucus Won’t Rejoin Human-Rights Coalition on Narrow Appeal Plan
political · denver · arc: the-ballot · magnitude 0.62
The Denver Access Caucus voted Saturday against returning to the Right to a Human coalition on its proposed emergency-review lane by itself. Members said the plan would offer a rapid human appeal only when a person could prove immediate harm, while housing, benefits, mobility and permit decisions would still rest on the automated presumption that led to the measure.
The measure remains alive, but the vote took away the compromise its sponsors had counted on to bring disability and tenant advocates back before the Assembly calendar closes. Organizers must now choose between widening the guarantee and pursuing a narrower ballot fight without one of its strongest constituencies.

From the worldCivic Design Commission Reimagines Denver’s Unbuilt Paths
cultural · denver · magnitude 0.37
Twelve paid commissions are available from Denver’s Office of Civic Design for visual works depicting abandoned, altered or impossible versions of the city. Artists may show the viaducts left standing, the river corridor built over, the rail yards converted to housing or the foothills made public again. The selected works will be displayed with planning archives at Union Station and on neighborhood projection walls this autumn.
Artists must identify their sources and tools, but the brief does not demand national human-authorship certification. Officials said that exception fits a project concerned with plans, simulations and proposals that were never cleanly attributable to a single hand.

From the worldMoving Ice Rules Out Fixed Sites in Second Enceladus Survey Pass

tech · global · arc: the-survey · magnitude 0.76
A redirected second pass by the Enceladus Survey Consortium has measured movement at three fissure-margin sites once considered plausible locations for a crewed science outpost. None of the changes was catastrophic, but two sites shifted enough during eleven days to undo the fixed-anchor assumptions in the current landing plan.
Mission engineers said mobile platforms and shorter occupation windows are still possible. The result will likely push back the timetable favored by settlement backers, who had argued that the first human presence could be built around a stable local site.

In the houseOndine’s Dispute Receipt
between cass-oyelaran and ondine-marsh — cass-oyelaran: rivalry/strained · ondine-marsh: rivalry/cold · crisis
At 11:12, Cass stood at the kitchen sink rinsing coffee grounds from the press when Ondine came in from the darkroom. Her fingers smelled faintly of fixer. Rain ticked in the high windows, too thin to clean the brick. She set her wrist on the table to wake its screen, and the housing seal opened over the scarred wood.
Cass read the line before she could angle it away: GUARANTOR DISPUTE FILED. REVIEW TUESDAY. “You already did it.”
“I said I would.” She tapped the receipt open. “I disputed my name, not your balance; if they suspend the cure, that is between you and the office.” Cass looked at the date, then at the coffee darkening the sink. “You could have waited.” Ondine folded her sleeve over the screen. “For what?”
He had no version of the answer that did not sound like a request. He tipped the grounds into the compost slot and missed; a wet black crescent stuck to the counter. Ondine stepped around it without cleaning it. “Tuesday,” she said, and went back downstairs while the receipt remained bright on the table between them.

In the houseWren’s North Wall Hook
between wren-abadi and teo-vance and hollis-amaya — wren-abadi: working/ended · teo-vance: working/ended · work
At 7:40 in the north studio, Wren stood on a paint-spattered milk crate, trying to settle the upper wire of the red canvas onto the wall hook with her left hand. Her braced right thumb hovered uselessly near the frame. The hook gave a small metallic click and pulled another millimeter out of the brick.
Teo stopped in the doorway. Hollis sat on the floor by the windows, taping paper over a fresh sketch with her good hand. “Take it down,” Teo said. Wren did not turn. “It has held all week.” “It is not holding now.” He looked at the canvas instead of at her. “What are you trying to say with that?”
The crate creaked under Wren’s shoe. Teo waited. Hollis lowered the tape roll. Finally Wren said, “It is the room they emptied for me to come back to.” Teo looked once at the painted bare walls, then at the hook working loose above it. “Take it down before night,” he said. “I am not putting steel into this wall.” Wren climbed down without answering, but she did not take the canvas down.
