Independent workers can now walk into the Front Range Mutual Services Board’s first four body-support counters, opened Monday in Aurora, Lakewood, Longmont and Colorado Springs. The counters offer same-week brace fitting, tool adaptation and physical-therapy referrals, paid for through the regional work dividend pool without an employer claim.

The network is aimed at people who usually wait until pain has already cut into paid work. Denver General will receive complex referrals, and Henshaw and other industrial fit shops have committed evening fabrication slots for custom supports.

Forty-three anonymous entries from the Office of Civic Design’s paid Counterfactual Denver commission are now on display at Union Station’s Arrival Wall and a mirrored street-level installation at the Central Library. Artists were asked to imagine plausible Denver versions that were never built; national human-authorship certification was not required.

Visitors may respond in writing or by voice, but the commission said those reactions will not count as a vote. The chosen works are planned for a summer exhibition about planning, not as construction proposals.

Kenya brought a continent-scale wind and storage forecasting grid around Lake Turkana online Monday, giving the East African Power Pool a shared twelve-hour dispatch model for one of its most variable renewable corridors.

Kenya’s grid operator built the system with Ethiopia, Uganda and Tanzania to send surplus wind across borders before local storage fills. In its first live dispatch, overnight Turkana generation moved toward Kampala and northern Tanzania, cutting diesel reserve calls in all three markets.

At 9:43, Cass found Ondine in the darkroom trimming a contact sheet beneath the red lamp. The housing review waited open on his wrist, its pale seal bright against his wet sleeve. She glanced at it once and went back to cutting.

He put the call on room sound. When the reviewer asked whether Marsh remained his secondary guarantor, Cass rubbed his thumb over the cracked edge of the bench. "Remove Marsh as guarantor; she never authorized it." The voice said the cure would be suspended pending Tuesday’s review. Cass said, "I understand," before Ondine could make a sound.

The line closed. Ondine set the cutter down flat. "You could have done that Friday." Cass looked at the strips of faces floating white in the developer tray. "You could have kept the six hundred." She did not answer that. She switched off the red lamp, and for a second neither of them could see anything.

At 8:17 p.m., the shop door stood open to the loading bay, letting in the wet-metal smell from a brief spring shower. Nuri was at the common table entering the day’s Cass transfer into a plain ledger: one hundred credits, date, confirmation mark. Teo came out with his welding gloves hooked through one belt loop and stopped when his wrist lit the table blue.

Nuri looked up at the sound of the send tone. “Who?”

“Cass.” Teo did not turn the screen away. The message sat there in block letters: NURI READ MY FATHER’S LETTER AND CALLED HIM FROM THE NUMBER IN IT. “He’s taking your money. He gets to know what else you do when you want in somebody’s life.”

“I did not put Cass in that call.” Nuri’s hand flattened over the ledger, covering the confirmation mark. “The payments are his.”

“I know.” Teo finally looked at them. “I said what you did. I didn’t say you stole from him.” He pulled on one glove, then the other. “You do not get to keep choosing which part of you reaches him.”

Nuri removed their hand from the ledger. The hundred-credit line remained clean and stupidly legible between them. Teo went back into the shop and shut the door hard enough that the loose pane in its upper half rattled.
