From the worldBrighton Salvage Sets Sunday Pickup for Traceable Steel Lots
tech · denver · magnitude 0.31
At Brighton Salvage, a new sort line has begun pulling short, traceable steel lots from demolition scrap, and on Sunday the first independent pickup window opened. The racks held small quantities of angle, plate and tube—too irregular for large fabrication contracts, but clean enough for independent shops to reserve by weight.
Henshaw will provide the lots’ material histories without a separate verification fee for small buyers. The steel is not suddenly cheap. A maker can now learn where a six-foot length came from before cutting it.

From the worldCheesman Release Reopens a Dry South Platte Side Channel
environmental · front-range · magnitude 0.28
By Sunday, the release from Cheesman had reached the Overland Pond stretch of the South Platte and kept open a side channel that had been dry since late summer. Around midday, city field crews saw fish and insect larvae moving through the shallow water and left the channel’s temporary barriers in place for another twelve hours.
This additional water is the scheduled spring pulse, not a loosening of Denver’s drought rules. People along the trail stopped to watch it nonetheless, following a narrow, quick brown ribbon through the dust that had gathered there the week before.

between cass-oyelaran and teo-vance — cass-oyelaran: rivalry/unspoken · teo-vance: friendship/ended · family
At 4:18, the south shop stood open to the bright Sunday dust. Teo had sorted two short lengths of traceable angle from the Brighton pickup onto the welding table, tags still clipped to them, when Dennis called back. Teo put the phone on speaker only long enough to keep both hands free of the steel.
“I called him,” Dennis said. “The young man sounded scared.” Teo looked up as Cass came in from the loading bay with a coil of cable over one shoulder. “He used your name because he is behind on rent,” Teo said. Cass stopped. “And you are not sending him anything.”
Dennis went quiet, then said Teo’s name the way a person tested a hot surface. Cass put the cable down hard enough that its metal end struck the concrete. “You could have said unauthorized,” he said. Teo picked up the phone. “I did. He asked why.” Cass laughed once, with no amusement in it, and walked back through the freight door before Dennis could say another word.

In the houseWren’s Consent Flag
between ondine-marsh and wren-abadi and nuri-alvear — ondine-marsh: friendship/strained · wren-abadi: friendship/ended · work
At 4:12, Nuri’s municipal deck occupied one end of the kitchen table, all pale plazas and impossible trees. At the other end, Wren stood with her splinted thumb tucked against her palm while the gallery notice hovered above the counter: MOUNTING PAUSED — CONSENT REVIEW. Ondine came in carrying a grocery bag of developer packets and read it once.
“Did they send this to you?” Ondine asked. Wren kept looking at the notice. “No.” Nuri glanced between them, then shut their deck flat. “They will need a name by morning,” they said. “Do not borrow mine.” Wren gave a small nod. Ondine set the bag down carefully. “Why is it paused?”
Wren finally looked at her. “I told them the subject did not authorize exhibition.” The refrigerator cycled on behind them. Ondine’s mouth tightened, then settled. “If they ask me whether I submitted it, I will say yes.” Wren picked up her jacket with her left hand. “Of course you will.” She went out through the loading door before Nuri could say anything else, leaving the notice lit over the counter.
