Golden’s corrected Colorado loss figure led the Front Range Water Security Authority to withdraw its optimistic late-June runoff case Monday. Household allocations remain unchanged, though the authority now expects less discretionary water to carry into July.

If the dry case holds, small commercial users—including shared studios and wash-heavy shops—will be placed in the first conservation tier under the revised planning table. The authority said it will release neighborhood-level examples before June 26, so tenants will not have to read their likely exposure from reservoir totals alone.

Nuri Alvear’s proposal is among the twelve teams Denver’s Civic Design Commission selected for the paid second round of its public-realm render arm. The arm will create visual studies for transit, cooling corridors and neighborhood assemblies.

Each team will receive the same three incomplete street briefs, and the finished images must include source disclosures. The commission expects to award one lead contract in July; several smaller call-off commissions will be available before then.

Relatives of people already settled under metro migration compacts cannot be deferred indefinitely, the Federal Claims Court ruled. Its order requires the Continental Relocation Trust to reopen nearly 180,000 paused family-reunification petitions.

The decision does not require any city to accept a particular household. It does restore applicants’ places in the queue and directs the trust to begin matching cases within ninety days. Compact cities that used the pause to manage housing and water plans immediately sought clarification.

At 7:12, before the clinic opened, Cass knelt under the waiting-room bench fixing contact pickups to the steel legs while Hollis laid out the lower wall panels in blue chalk. Her brace showed beneath the cuff of her work shirt. When his payment band lit on the edge of the bench—FORTY-EIGHT ATTACHMENT, CLINIC DISBURSEMENT ROUTED—he turned it facedown with his wrist.

Hollis did not look at his wrist again. She called the 38th Avenue foreman from beside the hand-sanitizer station, gave him Cass’s full name, and said, “Put Oyelaran on the opening audio; he is not my favor, he is my subcontractor.” Cass stood up too fast and struck his shoulder on the bench. “You could have asked.” “You could have told me the clinic money was already spoken for.” She ended the call. “Don’t make me carry you by pretending the work is imaginary.”

The clinic’s first patients began coming through the glass doors. Cass pressed the pickup flat with his thumb, then said, “I’m sending an invoice.” Hollis picked up her chalk line with her left hand. “That is generally how subcontracting works.” He did not thank her. He wrote the foreman’s number into his terminal anyway.

At 8:15, Wren had a black ratchet strap looped around the painted conduit below the north-studio ceiling. The red canvas stood on its lower edge against her knees while she worked the ratchet one-handed, her splinted thumb tucked uselessly into her palm. Outside the high windows, runoff clouds had flattened the last light over the rail yards.

Teo stopped beside the open door. “That pipe is not a beam.” Wren kept pumping the handle. “It is holding nothing yet.” The canvas shifted when the strap took a fraction of its weight. Teo crossed the room before she could catch the upper corner. It came down hard enough to knock her shoulder into the wall; he got both hands under the frame and lowered it flat across the floorboards.

Wren crouched beside it, breathing through her nose. “Kestrel Load is coming tomorrow,” she said. “I paid for the visit.” Teo looked at the strap, then at the hook pulled loose above them. “Good.” He stepped over the canvas toward the hall. At the door he said, “Do not call me to fix that wall—call somebody before you put your body under it again.” Wren did not answer. She unhooked the strap and left the canvas on the floor.
