On Thursday, the Sun Valley Land Commons completed its purchase of the former Ivers Cold Storage block, removing eight small bays and a loading court from the speculative lease market. Electrical work is due before the first leases begin this summer. The nonprofit said rents will be capped against the district’s median household dividend, not assessed land value.

The deal leaves the rail district’s reassessment unresolved. It does give makers facing one-year renewals another option, even as the inexpensive industrial rooms still available elsewhere become harder for undecided owners to ignore.

From the worldRiNo Clinic Brings Same-Day Motion Care to Independent Crewspersonal · denver · magnitude 0.31

Independent painters, riggers, welders and other workers without employer clinics can now walk into Denver General’s motion clinic beside the RiNo High Work Library. The clinic provides same-day joint imaging, fatigue mapping and referrals. The city art risk pool covers the service, with no charge for the first visit.

Staff expect to give early priority to overhead-work injuries and repetitive-load damage. Crews often accept those conditions as part of the job, they said, until the damage makes that impossible.

A patient with advanced retinal degeneration has regained usable central vision after a University of São Paulo surgical team integrated a lab-grown retinal sheet with her own optic tissue. Independent clinicians who examined the six-month results said the recovery is limited but real. She can read large print, recognize faces at close range and move around without the central blind spot she had before.

Brazil’s health authority has approved a closely monitored expansion to twenty patients. Routine cross-border care is not yet authorized, but ophthalmic centers across the Atlantic network began drafting referral protocols within hours of the announcement.

At 9:40 the motion clinician set three wooden pegs into Wren's right palm and asked her to turn them. Wren got the first one a quarter turn before her thumb trembled loose. The second rolled across the white counter and struck the floor. Cass, standing by the clinic door in his coat with her repaired lift boot tucked under one arm, bent as if to get it, then stopped when Wren looked at him.

"The intake says no loss of function," the clinician said. Wren kept her eyes on the peg under the cabinet. Ondine stood beside the wall panel with both wrists bare, no notebook, no camera. "I lied," Wren said. Her voice went thin on the last word. "I can't turn a key. I can't hold a brush after ten minutes. I can't—" She shut her mouth. The clinician began entering the correction and said something about imaging, a tendon strain, no loading or painting until the scan.

Wren looked at Ondine. "You stayed because you're my friend." Ondine's face did not change. "No," she said. "I stayed because your hand is yours, even when you lie about it." She walked out before the clinician finished fitting the black splint. Cass picked up the fallen peg only after the door had closed, and set it on the counter without touching Wren.

At 6:41, Nuri stood in the loading court under the thin spring sun, their municipal contract open across their wrist. The acceptance seal turned slowly beside a start date. Teo came through the freight door carrying the small rail from “What the Floor Receives,” its welds still blue-black at the seams.

“They took it,” Nuri said. Teo gave the contract one glance and shifted the rail higher against his hip. “Good.” Nuri watched him turn toward the shop, then said, too quickly, “Dennis said the rail was good. He said the welds looked—”

Teo stopped. The rail knocked once against the doorframe. “You read all of it.” Nuri’s face lost its prepared flatness. Teo set the rail inside, pulled the freight door nearly shut, and said through the gap, “We are not working together. You don’t come into my shop for city work again. And don’t say my father’s name to me like you brought him.” He slid the bolt home before Nuri could arrange an answer.
