From the worldWet Snow Puts Denver’s High Work on Hold
environmental · denver · magnitude 0.18
Before dawn, a narrow April system moved across the metro, leaving slush in the rail district and wind-packed snow on elevated surfaces. Denver’s high-work pool suspended exterior lifts through Sunday afternoon.
The city’s streets were clear by midday, and the foothills stood newly white above a cold blue break. Crews with unfinished walls and façade work were instructed to keep their places in the pool instead of rebooking. The storm was an inconvenience rather than an emergency, and the pause was expected to be brief.

From the worldSeven Arrival Wall Proposals Meet Commuters at Union Station
cultural · denver · magnitude 0.25
Commuters found the Arrival Wall shortlist along Union Station’s east concourse Sunday, where the station installed working-scale sections of all seven proposals ahead of next month’s commission selection.
Among them was Nuri Alvear’s immaculate, uncertified Denver render: a station district with shadows too clean and buildings that seemed to remember other streets. The commission said the exhibition was for public viewing, not a vote. People stopped anyway, long enough to argue with the work.

From the worldMorrow Returns to Enceladus Fissures for an Eighteen-Day Survey

tech · global · arc: the-survey · magnitude 0.67
Morrow began a second autonomous pass through an active south-polar fissure on Sunday, entering a fresh plume corridor for the Enceladus Survey Directorate. The probe’s first survey had returned conflicting readings on ice stability and subsurface chemistry.
Over eighteen days, Morrow will map heat gradients, particulate flow and landing-scale voids, then transmit a recommendation to the prospective crew coalition. The Directorate said the pass should determine whether humans can work at the fissures without turning a scientific outpost into a rescue operation. Advocates of the original schedule called the delay prudent; several partner states warned that six more months could become a decision never made.

In the houseWren’s Notebook Rule
between ondine-marsh and wren-abadi — ondine-marsh: friendship/strained · wren-abadi: friendship/ended · body
At 6:18 that evening, wet snow clicked from the loading-bay skylight into the drain trough. Wren stood at the kitchen table in one sock, fighting the tongue of a lift boot with her left hand. Her braced right hand stayed close to her ribs. Ondine came down from the darkroom with her canvas satchel open, the black notebook already inside beside two rolls of film.
Wren looked at the notebook, not at Ondine. “If you come Friday, you leave the notebook here.” She pulled the boot loose again and let it fall against the table leg. “No camera. No notes. Nothing.”
Ondine closed the satchel. For a second she held it by its strap, as if there might be a version of the answer that did not sound like surrender. “I will.” Wren nodded once, still not looking up, and worked the boot on with her left hand while Ondine put the satchel back on the darkroom shelf.
