Nuri Alvear is among the twelve names on the shortlist issued by Denver’s Riverfront Designs panel for its civic-render commission. The work will produce visual studies of the rebuilt South Platte access corridors and public rooms. Alvear’s submission is in the field with established architectural visualization shops and two neighborhood collectives.

The panel said the commission is not a certification job, and placed legibility, maintenance and public use ahead of authorship claims. Final presentations are scheduled for July. The selected render arm will receive a two-year municipal brief and a permanent desk in the city’s riverfront office.

The thermometer reached 101 degrees in Denver shortly after 3 p.m., setting a new mark for the date as dry air came east from the foothills. Cooling rooms, transit mist stops and evening work windows stayed open across the city. Rules for process water remained unchanged for small users.

At Wall Commons, lift work was pushed to sundown. Exterior crews were told to use the shade rigging instead of trying to recover the lost hours during the hottest part of the day. Forecast models show a cooler, unsettled pattern by Thursday, but no meaningful rain is expected in the lower rail district.

The final deep-water methane capture platforms on Lake Kivu entered continuous service Tuesday, according to Rwanda’s Kivu Energy Authority. The completed grid is designed to remove gas before it can build toward a dangerous release. It now covers Rwanda’s overnight demand, sells firm power into the regional intertie and sends stripped water back to depth through a jointly monitored limnology program.

Kigali officials described the system as a safety project that grew into an export industry. Congolese provincial leaders said their side of the lake is still only partly connected and called for a new revenue and transmission agreement before the next expansion phase.

At 8:41 Tuesday night, the north studio still smelled of brick dust and the citrus solvent the licensed crew had used on their hands. The new bracket sat high in the pier, clean and offensively official. “The Room They Kept Ready” hung from it without moving. Wren stood beneath it with a rag tucked through her back pocket, looking at the thin pale figure in “The Second Buckle” on the easel wall.

Teo had put his tape measure away. He did not inspect the anchors again. Outside, heat pushed against the open loading-door slit, and a transit mist line hissed somewhere on Brighton. “What are you trying to say with it?” he asked.

Wren kept rubbing the same dry place on her thumb. For a while he looked at the floor instead of at her. Then she said, “That help can make you disappear.” Teo nodded once, not like he had solved it. “All right,” he said. Wren set the rag down on the windowsill and left the painting where it was, uncovered.

At 9:06 p.m., the cooling room’s borrowed unit rattled beneath the east windows, moving air that smelled faintly of hot brick and old paint. Nuri stood by the folding table with the commission deck projected small against a sheet. Cass sat on the floor beside the extension strip, turning one dead speaker plug between his fingers. The shortlist alert glowed on his wrist. “Twelve names,” he said. “Very modest of you not to mention the whole city put you in a little parade.”

“I mentioned it to the kettle,” Nuri said. They clicked to the source-history slide. Ondine stopped at the water dispenser with her camera bag still across her shoulder. Nuri saw her, saw the zipper pulled shut, and paused long enough for Cass to look between them. “Stay if you want; it changes nothing about Friday.” Then they faced the sheet again. “I submitted a protected-process declaration. It was false. The commission has the intermediate panels, timestamps, source notes, and the correction.”

Cass’s plug slipped from his hand and tapped the concrete. “That’s the bit where they eat you, right?” Nuri clicked back one slide. “That’s the bit where they get to decide whether the work survives it.” Ondine filled her cup. She did not lift the camera. When Nuri started again, she stood by the sink until the last panel went dark, then carried the water out without saying whether the sentence sounded true.
