Arizona accepted its corrected conveyance-loss estimate in Denver’s late-June runoff model Sunday, and Denver reduced the predictable recovery windows available to its largest process-water users. The change was not enough to bring household restrictions, but it was enough to decide who could still count on dependable hours.

Studios and shops beneath the protected-draw threshold will retain their scheduled collection windows through the end of the month. Larger metal, aggregate and fabrication users will rotate through overnight slots. Arizona called the shift an overdue acknowledgment that Denver’s old assumptions had been carrying too much weight.

From the worldLead Residue Forces Platte Works to Quarantine a Salvage Lottech · denver · magnitude 0.31

A documented short-steel lot is sitting outside Platte Works’ process line after its alloy reader detected lead-bearing residue in several lengths sold as clean structural salvage. The steel came from a dismantled freight-yard canopy. Rather than sort out individual pieces, the shop quarantined the entire lot.

No injuries were reported. Platte Works will replace small-shop orders from verified stock without charging more, but fabricators scheduled for cuts this week face a choice: wait for a line to reopen or bring traceable material of their own.

Six months after arriving at Kosei Neurological Hospital with a complete spinal injury from a freight accident, the first patient there to receive a rebuilt thoracic nerve bridge went home Sunday. Staff said the patient left with a cane, sensation and voluntary movement restored below the waist.

The repair used cultivated support tissue and a continuously adjusted stimulation regimen previously tested only in partial injuries. Kosei cautioned against treating one recovery as a general treatment. Japan’s regulators nonetheless authorized a tightly limited expansion to twelve patients, while rehabilitation wards across the Pacific began requesting the protocol.

At 9:07, Cass sat cross-legged on the north-studio floor with the clinic band still around his wrist and the recorder open between his knees. The discharge screen on it read no amplified exposure, no alarm environments, review in fourteen days. Wren stood at the first panel with a rag pinched around her brush, watching him peel the thin contact transducer from the back of a dead field speaker.

“Brighton can keep its valves,” he said, not looking up. “They have assigned me quieter catalog work until the review. Which means less.” He pushed the transducer beneath the panel’s lower brace and woke the recorder. The missing session came back out of its cache in broken pieces: her brush dragging over gesso, a truck braking on Thirty-eighth, Cass’s own shoe shifting on concrete. He put the monitor against the good side of his head, then flattened his other hand to the painted doorway.

The panel gave a faint, private tremor under his palm. Cass looked at Wren. “I can make it from what the wall keeps.” Wren did not reach for the clinic notice or ask what Brighton would pay. She moved her paint cups off the floor and said, “Then don’t put the speakers in the doorway.” Cass smiled once, because it was an instruction and not mercy, and began marking the brace positions in chalk.

At 8:13 p.m., Teo stood at the south-studio bench with Henshaw’s answer bright against the darkened windows. The email called Dennis’s name a historical necessity, then offered to remove him from future calls as if that were generosity. Nuri read over Teo’s shoulder until the old fan clicked through another tired rotation.

“That is not the retention rule,” Nuri said. They pulled their own screen closer, found the municipal procurement manual, and opened the exception for legacy technical attribution. Teo saw the address line populate before he understood they meant to send it. Nuri wrote one sentence: Henshaw could seal the attribution from the working record and preserve it in compliance storage. Then they sent it.

Teo shut the bench screen with his palm. “Do not use my father to demonstrate you’re useful to me.” Nuri’s hand stayed on the mouse. “I used their rule,” they said. “They used your father.” Teo picked up the alignment gauge and set it back down in exactly the same place. “That distinction is for you.”
