At 6:41 p.m., the south studio held the day’s heat under its high windows. Nuri was shaving a white border from a riverfront presentation board when Teo’s bench screen chimed. He read Henshaw’s reply standing up, one hand flat beside the alignment gauge.
“Did they take him out?” Nuri asked, without looking over yet.
“From the gate list.” Teo turned the screen just enough that they could see the paragraph. DENNIS VANCE, offsite legacy reference; retained on archive and technical revision correspondence. Nuri set the cutter down. “That is not out,” they said. “That is a chair in another room.”
Teo’s jaw moved once. He opened a reply, deleted Henshaw’s polite greeting, and typed until the keys clicked hard under his thumb. “Dennis Vance is still named in your contractor packet; remove him from the archive, revisions, and contact chain, or you do not get my quote.” He sent it before Nuri could decide whether to call the wording excessive. Then he shut the screen and picked up the gauge. “Your border’s crooked,” he said. Nuri looked at it. It was not.
