Hollis took Cass off her wall after he made her injury his opening
Heat sat in the warehouse brick long after sundown, though Clear Creek’s cooling hours still held the studios open through the coming hot days. At 1:40, Nuri Alvear put the commission call on the kitchen audio and declined to let Teodor "Teo" Vance be contacted again about Dennis Vance’s interference; the nomination would go to Tuesday’s human panel. Teo, relieved despite himself and unwilling to call it gratitude, told Nuri not to let the proposed image acquire a roof garden over its ramp. Wren Abadi heard the exchange without softening toward either of them. Everyone had also seen the notices about tendon scans at the night-wall depots—an almost offensively sensible public mercy—and the Caspian trial’s restored fine touch passed through the Feed like a miracle that made Hollis Amaya’s guarded right shoulder feel more immediate, not less.
At 8:46 the Riverfront confirmation made that guarded fact public enough to act on. Cassius "Cass" Oyelaran had listed himself as sole Friday contact while Hollis was restricted for medical reasons, calling it coverage because he could not bear to call it ambition or fear. Hollis understood that he had converted her injury into his access, revoked his authorization, and ended their wall work without pretending the six hundred credits vanished. Cass made Route Unavailable, Support Removed, an installation about withheld care; he knew its empty marked space accused him more accurately than he intended. Hollis painted Faces Kept by the Roofline, leaving a stopped roller pass gold-edged rather than repaired, and Wren privately recognized its refusal as cleaner than any apology. Nuri’s Scale Figures, Public Run made a flawless civic promise conspicuously incapable of carrying everyone through it; Teo’s Access Route, Uncertified gave that promise a sagging steel body. Ondine Marsh printed Relationship Unconfirmed, With Waterline and kept her own shadow in the record, still undecided whether care required her signature. Wren’s Friday Contact held a figure beside an empty chair. None of them said what the vacant places had begun to mean.
From the worldNight-Wall Crews Can Check Shoulder Damage Before Work

Before heading into a shift, exterior crews can now have their shoulders scanned at three Denver night-wall depots. Public clinics supplied compact tendon-imaging units to the River North, Five Points and West Colfax lift yards, with a clinician reading each scan. The voluntary service also offers same-week referral slots when imaging finds strain or tearing, instead of waiting until an injury makes work unmanageable.
The placements come as crews move into the paid after-dark schedule during the heat restriction. The city plans to keep the program in place through the August heat window, then assess whether it should become permanent.

From the worldSmall Workshops Keep Their Clear Creek Cooling Hours
environmental · front-range · magnitude 0.29
The daytime cooling blocks reserved for small workshops will continue through August 8, Clear Creek’s thermal-bank operators said Wednesday, even with another hot forecast over the metro flats. For the next three days, larger contracted recovery users have been asked to shift more of their draw to after sunset.
That keeps a limited daytime work period open to studios, repair shops and light fabrication spaces that cannot safely put all their labor outdoors or overnight. The operators said the arrangement rests on the coming weekend’s runoff temperatures, not on any new guarantee of supply.

From the worldImplants Bring Reliable Fine Touch Back in Caspian Trial

tech · global · magnitude 0.68
In a multicity trial, 41 arm-amputee patients have regained reliable sensations of pressure and texture through a fully implanted peripheral-nerve prosthesis, the Caspian Rehabilitation Consortium reported. Most can handle fragile objects without watching their hands. Six-month follow-up makes this the first large trial to show fine touch continuing after participants returned to ordinary work and sleep.
In October, the consortium will release the implant architecture to public rehabilitation systems while keeping manufacturing oversight of the neural contacts. Patient advocates described the release as unusually open for a device likely to become standard care. Manufacturers said access in the first years would be limited by surgical training capacity, not by the hardware.

In the houseAmaya's Revoked Gate
between cass-oyelaran and hollis-amaya — cass-oyelaran: working/ended · hollis-amaya: working/ended · betrayal
At 8:46 that night, the Riverfront dispatch confirmation glowed on the freight-bay wall panel while Cass stood under it with a coil of cable over one shoulder. Hollis came in from the heat, read the line twice, then read the part beneath it: MEDICAL RESTRICTION NOTED. OYELARAN CLEARED AS SOLE SITE CONTACT FOR FRIDAY LINE CHECK.
"You wrote this," she said. Cass put the cable down carefully. "They needed a name. You have the clinic." "They needed a name, so you gave them mine and took the work." He started to say he had kept her from having to explain it. Hollis opened the gate authorization on her phone instead, her left thumb steady on the screen.
The panel chirped when the revocation went through. Cass's access band at his wrist flashed red once. "You used my arm to put yourself in front of them," Hollis said. "You're done on my wall." Cass looked at the dead authorization, then at her right hand held tight against her ribs. "The six hundred," he said, because it was the only thing he could make sound ordinary. "Still six hundred," she said, and walked out through the freight door without shutting it gently.

In the houseAlvear’s Retained Nomination
between teo-vance and nuri-alvear and wren-abadi — teo-vance: working/strained · nuri-alvear: working/ended · work
At 1:40, the commission’s review tone cut through the kitchen cooling unit. Wren was scraping dried umber from a palette at the sink; Teo stood at the counter with a bolt cup in one hand, though there was nothing in it worth sorting. Nuri put the call on room audio before either of them could object.
The reviewer said Dennis Vance’s statement had been added beside Nuri’s disclosure and asked whether the listed reference should be contacted for clarification. Teo’s thumb stopped against the rim of the cup. Nuri looked at the rail yard whitening behind the glass. “Keep the reference already filed,” they said, “but do not call Teo Vance again; he did not authorize what I did, and I will not make him manage it.”
There was a small clerical pause. Then the reviewer said the nomination remained eligible and the Tuesday human panel would consider Nuri’s deck without further reference contact. Wren set the palette knife down. Teo tipped the bolt cup into his palm, counted nothing, and said, “Don’t let them put a roof garden over that ramp.” Nuri gave one short nod and ended the call.
