Mayor Velez said Sunday that two former city cultural aides and a private event host arranged access to the gatherings now under scrutiny. He said the published approval records were incomplete but authentic, and did not allege that city commissions had been traded at the events.

Dalia Reeve, one of the aides named, replied within the hour. She said she had handled invitations, but had neither chosen artists nor directed funds. Through the afternoon, several small arts organizations retrieved old calendars and sponsorship ledgers. The question has shifted from whether the gatherings took place to whose presence made them useful.

From the worldWall Commons Adds Paid Recovery Sessions for Exterior Artiststech · denver · magnitude 0.39

Four paid recovery bays opened Sunday at Wall Commons for exterior artists whose shoulder scans showed a risk of overuse. The sessions include force-assist fitting, imaging review and supervised overhead retraining. Crews may use them between contracts without surrendering their place in the Commons referral queue.

It is a small program, but it alters the choice facing independent wall painters. A scan warning no longer has to mean hiding the problem or giving up a job. The first appointments were filled before noon.

The multinational Halley Shelf Laboratory kept its power, drilling and atmospheric instruments running through 118 days of polar darkness, completing its first Antarctic winter without a crewed resupply flight. A rotating human team supervised from Cape Town, Christchurch and Punta Arenas, stepping in remotely only twice.

The first complete winter record found a sharper-than-expected pulse of coastal methane release during two warm-air incursions. Researchers said the finding represented one season on one shelf and urged caution. They also said an uninterrupted record like it could not have been produced under the old expedition schedule.

At 7:03, Hollis came through the north studio door wearing a gray force-assist sleeve under her overshirt. The rigid seam ran from her wrist to above the elbow. She tried to pull the cuff farther beneath the fabric with her left hand and dropped the clinic packet on the worktable when it caught.

Nuri was at the projection wall, reducing a municipal concourse to clean white planes. The packet woke when it struck the table. RESTRICTED OVERHEAD LOAD / SIX WEEKS shone between a billing code and a little moving diagram of a shoulder. Nuri looked at it, then turned their projection black. Ondine stood by the sink with an unopened film canister in her palm. Her camera was zipped in its case.

“You went,” Ondine said. Hollis put her good hand flat over the packet, too late to cover the words. “Six weeks, no overhead,” she said. Then she looked directly at Ondine. “Riverfront does not get to know until I decide it does.” Ondine nodded once and set the film canister back in its drawer. Hollis took the packet and walked out before Nuri could say Wall Commons had paid recovery bays open.

At 10:43 p.m., Teo stood barefoot at the kitchen sink, scraping weld grit from beneath his thumbnail with the blunt edge of a spoon. The cooling unit ticked above the stove. Cass came in through the loading bay wearing the same Riverfront shirt he had worn out, except one cuff was dark with something spilled and dried.

Teo did not turn around. “Did he pay you?”

Cass set his palm flat on the counter. “I took his six hundred, and I start on your floor at six tomorrow.” Teo looked at him then. Cass’s face had gone careful in the way it did before he made a joke and decided against it. “Three shifts. Inventory. He called it an advance.”

“That isn’t an advance.” Teo put the spoon down hard enough that it rang in the sink. “And you are not working under me.”

“I’m not working under you.” Cass’s voice rose. “That is apparently the one thing you think you can protect.” He pulled his hand from the counter. “You knew what Saturday was. You let me go. So don’t stand here tonight and act like the building is yours because your father put a clock in it.”

Teo swallowed once. “I won’t sign your hours.”

“Fine,” Cass said. “Don’t sign anything for me.” He went back through the bay and shut the freight door behind him, leaving the kitchen light trembling in its old wire cage.
